At the seaside

 It is getting towards the end of summer, and so I decided to make a beach themed card on my day off (as I found some of my beach decoupage).

I used a vellum backing paper for a delicate effect of seashells. Then I layered a mirror card onto this. I added the decoupage topper of the girls collecting seashells to the side and then added the number to the silver mirror card.

Patterned floral wreath

 We still have two weeks for you to play along with our challenge over at Creative Moments (and as the weather is getting poor again, what better excuse :) ).

Here is my reminder card for the blog:

The image was precoloured so I simply printed and die-cut into a circle (overlapping thos bits that were outside of the die frame). I used two different patterned paper blocks that I got from The Range previously, turquoise and purple. I then used peel-offs to finish the card.

In the Jungle

 Hi guys,

Our blog post was a little delayed this week over at I Love Promarkers, however it is now live and the optional theme is 'In the Jungle'.

I coloured the image with Promarkers and then fussy cut this out. I backed a plain base card with some patterned paper from a magazine free gift. I then added a toucan sticker to increase the jungle feel of the card.

Three layers to the heart

 I have made a multi-layered card based on a sketch to share with you tonight.

I started with a blue base card, then added a purple music notation paper. Over this I added a pink patterned paper and then a die-cut heart with an embossed pattern in the centre. I added a flat back heart pearl to the centre of this and then added a peel-off heart.

The sketch I followed is this one from Cheerful Sketches.

Patterned Bunny

 Hi all,

Our new challenge started yesterday at Creative Moments, with the optional theme of simply to use patterned paper. I used both the free digital patterned paper that came with my image from Beccys Place, and one from my stash.

I layered the image onto the paper before printing and then coloured the image with promarker pens. I then layered this onto a cupcake paper before adding the birthday sentiment peel-offs.

Christmas Joy

 Hi all,

It is time for our reminder post for Creative Moments, where our optional theme is to use the sketch.

I have gone with a Christmas card this time.

I coloured the image using Promarkers and then also outlines the image with a Promarker. I simply cut it square. I used a gold metallic ink pad from the Range to make a circle in the background. Then I added a strip of patterned paper from my scraps box to the left hand side. I layered the image over the circle and then added a bauble sticker. The sketch we are playing with is this one:

Masculine birthday bear

 Hi guys,

Sketch challenge

 Hi all,

We have a new challenge started today over at Creative Moments with the option to use the sketch for your creation.

This is my card using an image from Patties Creations, and here is the sketch.

I coloured the flamingos using Chameleon pens and then used an X-cut scalloped circle die to make the topper. I placed this onto a pink base card and used a sentiment for the overlapping stripe. I then used mosaic tiles for the final accents from the sketch.

CAS floral sketch

I have actually managed to make a card that is not for a DT post. I went CAS and followed a sketch (see below).

I used a metallic green ink pad and an oval stencil. I then simply added a pre-coloured topper.

Pink, blue and yellow colour scheme

 Hi guys,

Our new challenge started yesterday over at I Love Promarkers. The optional theme for the next two weeks is to use the colours listed in my blog title. Check out the blog to see prize and sponsor information.

I have used Pretty Poseykin Troll  for my card.

The image was coloured using promarkers, then added to a yellow panel. This was layered onto a white base card with scalloped edges. I then added two yellow scalloped squares on two corners, one having a pink flower topper on it. To the other bottom corner I added a blue panel and a blue and pink swift topper. The sentiment can be added to the second yellow square.

Men and Boys reminder post

Tropical Escape

 Hi guys,

 Hey guys,

April Showers Bring May Flowers

 Hey guys,

It was my turn to choose the theme over at MAWTT, and as we are moving into May I want to see all those flowers that have been created with the April showers.

It is still difficult for me to access my craft supplies as I still haven't been able to move in to my new house. However I managed to throw something together with this little mouse that I coloured with Promarkers.

I simply fussy cut the image and backed onto a patterned paper I had in my little stash, which was from a unicorn paper stack.

 Hi guys,

I managed to make a quick card for the reminder post over at Creative Moments, even though I still haven't managed to move into my new house yet, so don't have easy access to my stuff.

I used a pre-coloured image from Beccy's Place. I then fussy cut the image. I folded a Kraft card blank into an easel card, added a strip of patterned paper and an 18 key for the base, and peel-offs for celebrating either side of the image.

Flora and fauna for spring

 It is time for our challenge winners and reminder post over at Creative Moments, which means I have made another card for our flora and fauna theme.

I coloured the image using promarkers and then fussy cut. I used a scalloped heart (X-cut dies) cut from lilac patterned paper to produce a background for the image. I then die-cut the butterfly from self-adhesive vellum. To finish I added some hessian flowers to the bottom corner.

Use the rainbow

 Good evening,

We have a new challenge over at I Love Promarkers, with an optional theme of 'Use a Rainbow'. I chose to make a rainbow with my sentiment, and also use some rainbow pattered backing paper for my interpretation of this theme.

The sponsor for this challenge is Polkadoodles and I have used ' Bananas about ya' for my card. 

I coloured the image using chameleon pens, and also used these to create the rainbow sentiment - I simply used red, yellow, blue and purple to make the rainbow. I fussy cut the image and then added to my rainbow backing paper that was layered onto a 6x4 base card.

Butterflies

 Good evening all,

I made this card for our challenge over at MAWTT, however I then realised I had used the incorrect theme and my card making stuff is since packed away for moving house. So I wasn't able to use this card for the challenge blog, but I still wanted to share it with you all.

I thought the theme was butterflies, when in fact it is Trains, Planes and Automobiles - do pop over to the blog to see what the DT have made. In the meantime here is my incorrect card:

I started by layering a piece of black card onto a white card blank. As I wanted a chalkboard effect I used some white die-cuts from my stash of a flower and a butterfly. I then added a butterfly peel-off on the white section, which is a black glitter peel-off. Finally I added a domed sentiment.

 Hi guys,

Under the sea

 Hi guys,

We have a new challenge started today over at I Love Promarkers. The optional theme for this fortnight is Under the Sea, so I have used a Mermaid image from our sponsor  Heather Valentin - Colour of Love .

As this was a rectangle design I didn't need to do much else - I simply used an under the sea themed patterned paper to attach a peel-off sentiment too, and another sheet from the paper pad to decorate the front of the envelope.

We had a new challenge start yesterday over at Creative Moments (I am a little late with my blog post!). Our optional theme for February is CAS. We have two sponsors for this challenge - Hetty Claire and Mirtillamente. I have used a Mirtillamente image - Flowerz #2.

I coloured the image using my Chameleon pens and then die-cut using X-cut large labels nesting dies. I used the next size up to cut a matt from patterned paper before layering onto a scalloped base card. Finally I added the peel-off sentiment stickers.

Easter Carrots

 Hi all,

I coloured Owen using promarkers, and then used a nested label die from X-cuts to create the topper. I layered a scalloped card with a patterned paper that looks like the sunshine and then layered the image on top f this. To finish I sta,ped the sentiment onto teal card and heat embossed using heat it up embossing powder.

Dandelion wishes

 Well, my first cross stitch finish of 2024 was this little hedgehog from the Country Companions collection. He was a free kit with The World of Cross Stitching 307 (June 2021).

I haven't done anything with the card blank as I think this design could be used for a variety of occasions.

It's all hearts

 Hi guys,

Happy February - the month of love. As such we have the theme of Love and Hearts for our new challenge over at Moving Along with the Times (MAWTT), which was chosen by Wendy L.

I have made my very first exploding box card - and it was far easier than I expected (although I did use a ready cut base, so that might be why lol.

This was a craft kit that came free with a crafting magazine and I decided to use the heart toppers for it, alongside a couple of butterflies from my stash. I have had the kit for quite a while and never got round to using it because I could never imagine actually sending the cards - however they fold flat!

Down on the Farm

Fantastical reminder

 Hey it is time for our reminder post for Creative Moments, where our optional challenge for this month is *Fantasy*.

I coloured the sheepski 'Acorn Ale' image with Chamaeleon pens before die-cutting the image. I layered patterned paper onto a green 6x6 base card, and then matted a corresponding paper onto pink card, to layer onto this. I added a ribbon to the panel before adhering to the card base. I then added a printed sentiment panel.

I have now finished watching season 1 of The Mist. I found that it was a great revision of the original story, making it a little more thriller, rather than outright horror. The characters are very easy to dislike, with none of them really making you want them to survive (maybe making it more true to life). However character development through the series is good.

One thing to note - there is no season two, however the first season leaves you on the edge of the precipice. So if you don't like being left hanging then it is probably best not to watch the series.

 They say January is the month of the blues - so I made a blue bird birthday postcard :)

Love Moose

 Hi guys,

Our first challenge of the year started yesterday over at I Love Promarkers. I am late posting as I was out at a music bingo event last night - which was very unique!

Anyway - here is my DT creation using Mortimer the motivational moose from Dr Digi.

I actually coloured him using chameleon pens and then fussy cut the image. I layered him onto a piece of newsprint patterned paper that was die-cut with a stitched square die from M&C (The Works). This was then layered onto a purple glitter cardstock die-cut from the largest square. This was all layered onto a purple base card.

I am currently watching Supernatural (which is getting a little far fetched at season 5, but still enjoyable to watch whilst stitching). I am reading Dr Alexander Shulgin's The Nature of Drugs, which I will be aiming to review for you once I have finished it. I am also currently watching 'The Mist' the series, which I am almost at the end of, so I will try and provide a review for that for you in the next few posts.

However, back to the live music bingo. This is a Bingo card with artists/songs or both on there (three rounds - first is songs, second is artists and third was a combination of the two). There is a guitarist that plays the song (just the first 30 secs -1 min) and you have to be the first to shout if you get a line/two lines/full house. My team won diddly squat, but it was certainly great fun!
