OLC Christmas

Hi there,

Another quick post in between revision!

I have a Christmas crad for you this time:
I used a pearlescent base card with stripes of music pre-printed onto it, from the Papermania Christmas Tidings range. I used a sizzix snowflake die to cut the aperture in the centre top, and then pressed a pretty colour inkpad onto the card behind to give a red/green striped background. Finally I stamped the sentiment (which was a free magazine gift) using another striped pretty colour inkpad.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Die Cuttin' Divas #380 Anything Goes
Crafty Hazelnuts Christmas #396 For a man or boy (simple design)
Simply Less is Moore #376 OLC Stripes
Intas #38 Christmas Traditions
Christmas @ Sweet Stampin' - Anything Christmas Goes

I can also share some photos of my garden from last month, that I have just realised I have not shared yet :)

Ikes Picnic

Hi there,

I finished this yesterday but didn't have time to blog about it - so here it is:
I coloured the image using promarkers and cut close to the edge. I rolled a corner of some double sided paper, so that you can see both sides, and then stuck this to the card. I layered the image over the top and used peel-offs and a blitter to finish.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
CCEE1830 Refreshments
Cute Card Thursday #540 Too Cute

Sorry it is a very quick post. I am supposed to be revising for an exam on Thursday!

Vintage Anniversary

Hi there,

We have just been out to watch the new Jurrasic Park, and I have come to the conclusion that we have missed one somewhere lol. It is a good film, well made, however the plot is just a repeat of previous films, with a change of scenery and a different stupid egotist.

Anyway, I do have a card to share with you :)  The image is from Ooh-la-la creations 'Say it with words' CD-Rom. I fussy cut and matted to a lilac base card. I then added peel-off cats, butterflies and sentiment (which says Happy Anniversary).

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
City Crafter #422 Butterflies
polkadoodles wk30 - Summer
MTTC #375 Anniversary
SUYP #32 Furrything Goes

I also have a couple of critter photos for you. The first is my baby Morio worm! He is ever so exciting, and there are a few more too!
And a leaf cutter bee (living in the top of Doris's hutch.

And here is a wasp eating the wood to make a paste for creating a nest:

Shakers @ Creative Moments

We are having a shaker card twist to our Anything Goes challenge this time over at Creative Moments. I have used 'Let's be unicorns' from Scrap N Dipity who are one of our sponsors. I coloured the image using Papermania watercolour pens and glitter markers, then die-cut into a square. I added this to a pale grey card base. I then die-cut a stitched square out of peachy pink glitter card using M&C nesting dies. I manually cut the central apperture to ensure the image showed through suitably. I added glitter stars as well as microbeads and fine glitter to the shaker element.

I would like to enter this into the following challenges:
Card Mania #106 Anything Goes
MMM #76 Coloured image
ATSM #302 Make your Mark
The Paper Players #402 Use negative space

I used my avon ice cream maker to make some ice cream, for the first time (technically hubbies ice crem maker, but he hasn't used it yet either). It was really easy to use, but the ice cream is slightly powdery.

And an update on my newest WIP (2hr48):

Floral Inspiration

Time for a new challenge over at I Love Promarkers. We have a photo to inspire you this time, but if you do not get any inspiration from it then you can play anything goes, but do remember to use your promarkers. Here is the photo to inspire:

Our sponsor for this challenge is Bugaboo  and I have used pretty fairy for my card. I layered her onto striped blue patterned paper, so that she was sitting on it before printing.

I coloured the image with Promarkers but I forgot to make a note of them before putting them away. I then layered flowers to match the inspiration photo. I also added a strip of blue washi tape along the bottom. I also added some lilac glitter glue to the wings, as there was no other lilac used on the card.

I would like to enter this into the following challenges:
SimonSaysStamp Wednesday - Anything Goes
 MMM #76 Coloured image
craftycalender - Totally Girly
Avenue 613 #211 Create your own designer paper (created on the computer for the fairy to sit on)

Here are some matching pretty flowers too :)

Here is a dino update (65 hours):

Birdy Blues

Well I finally decided to get my pencil and sketch pad out. I find it hard to get time to just sit and draw at the moment, but I made some time, popped Doctor Who on the laptop and drew my little Red-Rumped Parakeet - Billie.

Here is Billie:
and here is my drawing:
The watermarks have ruined it slightly, but I am really happy with it.

I would like to enter it here:
MAWTT #76 Wild Animals (he was an escape and spent a few months through summer living wild before being caught - he was never claimed so we kept him).
crafting by designs - Anything Goes
not just cards - anything Goes

I also have another book review for you all:

The Reckoning by Jane Casey
Maeve is trying to decide where she wants to go with her relationship. It is complicated as they work together on a team where relationships between work colleagues is strictly forbidden. She has also just moved to a new flat and is trying to get used to her house mates. This is all while investigating a series of violent murders on men that are on the sex register. Who is wanting to kill the sex offenders, and why? Especially as one of them is innocent of the crime. Furthermore, somebody is watching Maeve more closely than is comfortable.
Once again this detective thriller keeps you on the edge of your seat. The relationship between Maeve and Rob has just the right amount of friction, which the author explains very well throughout the story. Also Maeve is a very believable character, acting exactly like you would expect a normal person to act. Yes she has her quirks, but she is not made out to be a super-human, which is great. A very good read and it does keep you guessing!

And I would like to leave you with a funny picture of my poor hot rabbit - melting in the sun!

Burning Beverages

Well it is looking to be a hot and muggy weekend here in South Wales. The animals are much preferring the mugginess to the intense sunshine, although personally I am not as sure lol. I think the plants are probably preferring it too!

The Big Butterfly Count has now started - and I have done two counts so far. I need to do one in my garden, but when I'm out there I am too busy playing with the animals :D. I do also need to do some measuring in the garden to see what size circular patio I want, and get an idea of how I want the layout for it. I know I want it to be a sheltered area with plenty of trellis and planting to hide it from the house, and a fountain too. However having a small garden means I will have to be creative to also make it a cofortable place to sit, while not taking over the majority of the garden.

Anyway, I am here to show you my latest card creations - yup there are two this time:
So I used the Cocktail Glass die, from Creative Dies, for both cards.
The first is a birthday card and as you can see I have used the die as intended and also added a Creative Dies star circle around the outside, interlocking the champagne glasses. I did the circle in a slightly plaer pink glitter card than the colour of the base card so that it didn't detract from the main image. I coloured peel-offs using distress ink, to match the glasses before sticking them on.
The second card was supposed to be a cloud with a silver lining. I am not sure it has actually worked as well as I thought it would unfortunately, and I am not sure it will be used for anything. I die cut the top part of the glas using pale pink glitter card, three times, cutting one of these in half. I then layered them together to create what should have been a cloud shape. I added silver ink to the edges to create the silver lining and then hand-wrote the sentiment.

I would like to enter these cards into the following challenges:
Twofer challenge #7 Beverage
Inkspirational - #165 Birthday
CASology #308 Cloud (second card)
Die Cuttin' Divas #378 Lots of layers (I have used several layers in the second card to make the cloud)
SSS Wednesday - Use a die/punch
Crafty Catz #426 Dies/Punches

I would also like to share some photos of my recent murder mystery evening:

It was great fun :) Can you guess who the murderer was?

And here is an update on my Dino also:
This stands at 65 hours for this Dinosaur (he does have a head I promise :D).

I also have a book review for you:
The Burning by Jane Casey

There is a serial killer targeting young women who apparently have nothing in common and leaving their corpses burned beyond recognition. He is known as the Burning Man and Maeve Kerrigan is a junior officer in the team that is investigating the case. When they find the body of a well-off lady Maeve instantly thinks something is amiss as the body has not been as badly mutilated as the previous victims. This means she is pulled off the main team in order to investigate new avenues for this murder, but the public cannot know. However, letting her have some interaction with the main case could prove to be very dangerous. With lots of twists and turns Maeve must determine what has actually happened without letting her emotions side-track her. This is a very fast paced and intense story and Maeve is very likeable! It is well worth a ready – and even better there are several books in the series!
