A little catty post

Hi guys,

e have had a great day out at Llanelli WWT today - although the wind was a little chilly at times. There wasn't many opportunities for pictures as my camera doesn't zoom in quite as well as others, and I had not taken my little digital camera.

However, I do have a photo of my most recent card to share with you. I wanted a kitty card based loosely around St Patricks Day (hence the green :) ).

I used a pale green card blank and started by adding the MEOW stickers across the centre. I have had these stickers for a while and never had any idea how I could use them, so decided to base the card around them. I then added the crazy cat sentiment from the same pack. Next I added a kitty to go with it, in a green/blue, and some paw prints. Finally I stamped the floer accents and sentiment from a free patchwork stamp set. I coloured the flowers using atercolour pencils.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Daring Cardmakers - A special lady (my mum loves her cats)
CCEE1913 Pencils
intaas #54 Green and 2 others (brown and blue)
TIOT - say it with flowers
SUYP #40 St Catericks Day
Thanks for looking,

For a Man @ MAWTT

Hi there,

It is time for our new challenge from Team A at MAWTT, chosen this time by the lovely Zoe. She has chosen the theme of For A Man.

I have gone for a travelling theme for my card:
I blended Carved Pumpkin and Scattered Straw Distress inks across the background to create an old map colouration. I then edged this with Pine Needles Distress ink.

The image was a sticker that I had for a while in my stash, as was the sentiment sticker, but they were from two different sets.

I would like to enter this tiny 3x3 card into the following challenges:
Simply Create Too #147 For a male
Intaas #54 Green and two other colours (black and brown)
Simon Says Wednesday - Anything Goes

I also have a book review to share with you :)

Codename Villanelle by Luke Jennings
This is the book that Killing Eve is from. I thought it was just one book, however there is a second book in the pipeline! I have not watched Killing Eve yet so I came to the book unbiased by the TV programme. The story starts with some history and background on both Eve and Villanelle, and how their paths come to cross. There is a lot of details about how they each do things and how their lives are very different. Eve loses her job because of Villanelle, and this sets her on her tail. She knows that Villanelle is dangerous and is working for dangerous people, but she also knows that she needs to be stopped. Full of tension, action and emotion this is a very detailed story, which ends just shortly after Villanelle has to exterminate her mentor and allow her identity to be discovered by another. However, at this point in the story Eve and Villanelle have never actually met. I found that this story wasn’t as fast paced as some crime fiction, but it doesn’t feel slow due to all the extra detail involved to give you a thorough idea of what is going on. You do get attached to some characters, and occasionally you even feel like you are on the side of the bad guys. Well worth a read. Now just to wait for the second book to be released.

Thanks for looking and we cannot wait to see what you create for our theme this time.

Balloon Celebrations

Hi there,

I made this card duoo primarily for Twofer card challenge - with the first being a party balloon and the second a travelling balloon. They are also great for the Alphabet Challenge - Z for Zesty colours.

I used a polkadot card blank, and added some birthday celebration stickers to it. I chose a green polka to match the green of the froggie. I die-cut the balloon (Creative Dies) from self-adhesive glitter (X-cut). To finish I used a fineliner to add the tail of the balloon.

I think this card is suitable for the following challenge:
CraftyCalender - For a child

For this second one I kept it CAS and simply cut the same balloon from a yellow glitter paper. I added a printed sentiment from a Quick Cards CD-Rom. Finally I added the travel themed stickers.

Not Birthday @ Aud Sentiments

Hi there,

We have a new challenge over at Aud Sentiments, and this time we want to see anything EXCEPT birthday sentiments. We are sponsored by The Paper Shelter

and I have used Relaxing Bath for my card.

I used the pre-coloured image and layered it onto one of the other backing papers before printing out, because I wanted a sentiment panel to be included in the image. I then simply used a peel-off sentiment. I added some blue wave washi tape to a peach card base, then layered the image panel onto this. Finally I added some stars and a horseshoe.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
dragonflydreams - for a special female

Thanks for looking and I can't wait to see what you create,

We have a new sponsor for this challenge - Oddball Art by Lizzy Love - and I have used Big Eye Flower Girl Noora. (I am so sorry this is posted later than expected - I had scheduled it, but apparently didn't then click on publish!! Grrr).

Others = Tawney Owl, Metallic Gold, Marine, Poppy, Twilight Sky, Royl Blue, Soft Peach and Amethyst. Her dress and night socks are coloured with watercolour pencils. It's all in the shoes

So as I promised, I have another card to share with you today - CAS stamped card!

I simply used some stamps I got from my mum a while back and didn't actually use. I started with a lilac card base. Then I die-cut the large label from X-cut nesting dies on pearlescent silver paper. I stamped the shoes (three of) onto this panel before adding to the base at an angle. I then stamped the sentiment on the top left corner.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
CCEE1911 Shoes
Simplylessismoore #391 Take three
dragonflydreams - For a special female

Bugs @ MAWTT

Hiya everybody,

Finally got my computer working properly so that I can tell you about the new challenge that has started today over at MAWTT! It is Team B's turn this challenge, but I loved the theme so decided to play along too. Do check out the blog to see the DT inspiration! There are some fab creations.

The theme for this challenge is BUGS, chosen by Jessie. For this we are using the broad sense of the term, so insects, arachids, butterflies etc - all those little creepy crawlies :) Here is what I created:
I used some stamps from my stash by Pretty Petticoat that came free with a magazine. I staped them in blue ink (whispers) and coloured with watercolour pencils (WHSmith brand). I also stamped the matching sentiment. To finish I added a couple of diamntes and some peel-off leaves.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
C4C474 Flowers
CASology #335 Earth
ATSM #332 Make your mark

Birthday Bubbles

Hi there,

I am always so busy with making birthday cards and I am trying to challenge myself to use my stash a bit more - especially my die-cuts (it might get easier once I have finally got my craft room organised lol). So I made a birthday card primarily using die-cutting.

I made a card blank with a rich purple card stock I had in my stash. Die-cut the champagne glasses from mirror card (also from my stash, but I do use this regularly so don't think it counts as stash busting lol). I then added some diamantes as bubbles (I wanted to keep the ones in the glass rather than having purple spotting through), and a stamped sentiment using a papermania silver ink pad, which is not used often enough as it doesn't show up on white cardstock lol.

Die used - Champagne glass from Creative Dies
Stamp was from a free set with a magazine.

I would like to add this card to the following challenges:
notjustcards - Anything Goes
ATSM #331 Anything Goes

I also have some wildlife pictures to share with you :)

The robin is waiting for a snack lol.

Golden Heights

Hello from very windy Wales! Wow is it cold and windy, and our heating has just decided it doesn't want to work! Not brilliant when we have a living room full of inverts, snakes and beardies - all that want an ambient room temperature of about 20-23 degrees!! Luckily we have a little fan heater, but it is not ideal at all.

I have made a card today to try and remember that Spring is coming and there should be some calmer weather with it! However, saying that I did see a bumblebee trying to fly in the storm today (I think it ended up sheltering under my hanging basket plant).

I got the die-cut card blank from a shop near me called buyology, which I only found a couple of months ago. The quality is not fantastic, but you can work with it, and they are really pretty. I added some Anita's gold card to the inside panel to make the butterflies pop. I then die-cut the dragonfly (Creative Dies) from handmade textured pale gold paper which was in my stash. Finally I added an Anita's peel-off sentiment.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
IkesWorld #118 C for CAS
TIOT - inspired by a word 'Golden'
CuteCardThursday #572 Anything Goes

Thanks for taking the time to visit my blog,

Funny Sentiment @ Aud Sentiments

Oops I forgot to post my DT blog for our new challenge at Aud Sentiments! The theme for this one is to use a funny sentiment. We are sponsored by Dr Digi House Of Stamps
I have used Funny Sentiments 2 for my card along with some peel-offs to keep it nice and simple (the peel-offs are felted).

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Thanks for looking and we cannot wait to see your funny sentiments too,

Anything Goes @ Creative Moments

Hi there,

We have a new Anything Goes challenge for you over at Creative Moments. I have used Shopping in Yorkshire, by Sheepski, for my card. Please check out the blog post for information on our sponsors and the prizes they are offering, as well as ore inspiration from the rest of the DT.

I layered the image onto a background on the computer. This took some doing as the image is a jpeg rather than a png and has rather a lot of white background. It proved rather difficult to get rid of this without damaging the outline of the image slightly, but I eventually managed it. I then usd a sentiment that I had on the computer before printing out. I coloured the image using watercolour pencils.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
ikesworld #118 C for CAS
dragonflydreams - For a special female
AYLI - Layers, one or many? - I like creating one layer cards, but find it difficult. So if I am uing digital I do tend to try and create a one layer card. They are uch easier for posting.
SimonSaysMonday - Whatever the weather
SimonSaysWednesday - Create a scene

Here are some photos for the start of my patio and Doris (the rabbits) tunnel:
