Autumnal kitties

 Happy Samhain everybody!

I decided to watch The Craft while crafting this evening - that film really doesn't get old!

I made a kitty themed autumn card for men, using a wedding base card.

I used a base card with a vellum central panel. I printed the quote from TheMaleRoom in brown ink and die-cut using an X-cuts oval nesting die. I then mounted it behind the vellum panel. I stamped the kitty onto the front of the panel using Distress Moss ink, with one the kitty's having Whispers ink behind it. I stamped the sentiment from the same free stamp set using the Distress ink also.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

CCEE2044 Cats

MMM #134 Masculine

SUYP #58 Furrything Goes

Ribbons @ I Love Promarkers

We have a new challenge started today at I Love Promarkers, with an optional theme of Adding a Ribbon. This time we are sponsored by IkesArt and I have used Ikes Cubimals image.

I coloured the images using the following promarkers - Cool Grey 3 & 5, Winter Berry, Tawny Owl, Chestnut, Mango, Tequila Sunrise, Mustard, Satin, Pale Pink, Blossom, Bluebell and Lush Green.

I then put slits down each side of all the images and threaded ribbon through each panel. I added a rough bow with the same ribbon and then finished the card using peel-offs.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

dragonflydreams - spooky or cute (going with cute for this one)

notjustcards - Anything Goes

I also have a recipe to share with you today. This is to make a lentil curry.

Firstly, you need to soak your lentils for the correct amount of time - refer to the packaging for this as it will vary depending on the lentils you are using. I used split red lentils and tinned yellow lentils for my curry.

First fry the lentils in about 2tbsp oil for 5 minutes.

Next add two diced onions, two chopped garlic cloves, three green chillies (chopped) and a few chopped tomatoes (fresh rather than canned) to a wok. Heat in the wok until the onion has softened.

In the meantime, make up your creamy sauce using 150ml single cream with a little bit of water. (I need to confirm this part). Add to the slightly cooled lentils.

Add the spices (list here) to the pan with the onion mix and heat through for another 5 minutes.

Then add the lentils mix and heat for 8-12 minutes.

I have used one of my highly patterned base cards (I am trying to work through them lol) to make a halloween themed card that can be used fr a variety of occasions, especially as I keep tarantulas as pets.

I covered the busiest area of the card with a yellow and brown patterned paper. I then used some Crafter's Companion toppers with spiders and simply added some diamantes to finish with a little sparkle.

These shoes were made for walking.....

 Hi guys,

I have another card using the Witchy Shoes image from Digi Doodle Studios - this time coloured completely by hand using promarkers.

I simply matted the image onto patterned paper and then layered onto a heavily patterned base card. To finish I added an Anita's foiled sentiment.

As we have a new challenge starting over at Creative Moments today I thought I would coincide my post with this, so that I can direct you all over there to see what Team B have created this time.

In the purple

 Hi guys,

I used a lilac cardstock to make my base card. Then I stamped the stag, from a free stamp set, using my Pretty Colour Black ink pad and masking off the triangle with waste paper. I let the ink dry and then added some washi tape sentiment strips, a 'happy birthday' peel-off and a die-cut and promarker coloured butterfly.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

I also have another book review to share with you today:

Every Missing Thing by Martyn Ford

Ten years ago Ethan Clark went missing and was never found. Sam was the detective at the time and he lost his family, his career and his health because of his obsession with finding Ethan. He was certain that the father had not killed him, although the media were using this angle for their stories. Now Robin, the daughter of the same couple, has gone missing. The circumstances are identical: age, time of disappearance and the fact that she is nowhere to be found. Sam has retired, but he is pulled back into the case when the father states that he will not talk to anybody else. However, this time there is a trail to follow and a chance that Robin could be found. Sam knows that playing by the rules could mean that they lose their chance, however not playing by the rules puts his family and his own life in jeopardy. This is a well written story, and the perpetrator and story behind Ethan’s disappearance, and also explaining why the father seems so suspicious are kept hidden until right at the end of the story. It is a bit macabre in places, and also maybe a little extreme, however when dealing with gangs and if your family is at risk, you may well do anything to make sure they are safe.

Here is an update on my Dino height chart at just under 325 hours

And finally an audio book review for you - as it has been a while!

Gate of the Dead by David Gilman

This is the third book in the Master of War series. The peasantry are rioting through France looting and killing anybody who is better off than they are, regardless of the person’s character, putting Blackstone’s family in danger. Meanwhile, Blackstone has been summoned back to England, from where the Prince banished him in the previous book for trying to kill the King of France.

Upon his return to England, after a treacherous journey, Blackstone finds out that it is actually the Kings mother that has summoned him, and she wishes him to best the Prince in a joust competition. She is playing politics with Blackstone’s life because she knows the King needs him once again. She manages to convince the King and the Prince of Blackstone’s use, and blackmails Blackstone by using his family against him, even though realistically she has no idea where they are.

Blackstone finally finds his wife and children, but Christiana is in a perilous position as she has spoken up against a German knight. And not just any German knight, but the brother of the knight Blackstone killed at Cressey. Blackstone has to stand up for his wife’s honour, while also trying to subdue the rebellion. Unfortunately, things take a turn for the worse for Blackstone before the end of the story, and it ends with him taking to the sea and leaving his son in the care of his former mentor.

This is very gruesome in parts and does not hold back from the brutality of war and the peasant uprising. However, it is a very good story and keeps you wanting to know if Blackstone will ever find his family again.

The sentiment was hand written and then a peel-off wand was added to finish the design.
