Birthday Lord

Here is my second DT post for today. This time I am letting you know about our new challenge over at Creative Moments. As usual the theme is anything goes, but our optional twist for this challenge is BIRTHDAY!! So a nice easy twist for those of you who like to play the twist :D

Our sponsors for this challenge are Creative Bug and My Stitch Back In twine. For my creation I have used an image from the lovely Kristyn who runs My Stitch Back in Twine - Birthday Charlee.

I used a mirri card base card and coloured the image with promarkers before layering it at an angle. I used some flower die-cuts and a leaf die-cut to decorate the card adding a gem to the centre of the large flower and stamping the small flower and the leaf.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
SOS #305 You are so sweet (stamped die-cuts from my stash)

Here I have an update on my fishtank from last week:
It is almost there now!! A few more Greens, blues and browns and then the backstitch to do whoop!

My hubby bought some pixel art keyrings when we went to the craft show last month and here is what he has made:
And here is mine:
Which was made to look like Tubs -

And I have the second book review (I haven't gotten hold of book number 3 yet though).

Tower Lord by Anthony Ryan
This is the second book in the trilogy. This book continues on from where the last book left off. Vaelin has had time to attune his gift but wishes to lead a quiet life on return to his kingdom. Frentis on the other hand is dreading returning home and what this will mean for himself. Reva has set herself a mission to finish the Darkblade once and for all, and Princess Lyrna is on a quest for the realm. Although apart these four have a major role to play to keep the Realm safe from the largest attack it has ever faced.
This book is written from the perspective of four different people unlike the first book. This allows a greater scope to be available for the reader and allows several different threads to be followed within the story. It also allows the reader to imagine the advance of the enemy throughout the realm, rather than being limited to one small conflict. The story from the first book is explored more deeply, but the tension and intrigue are still there, again making it a difficult book to put down.

Blood Hero

Hmm strange title there lol. But we are back round to Wednesday again and another new challenge over at I Love Promarkers. Our challenge this time is Superheroes (or for a child if this is a bit of a stretch - I know I would have struggled without an image from the sponsor). Do check out the creations from the rest of the team for some great inspiration!!

Our sponsor for this challenge is Digital Delights, and I have used Captain Colin on my card.

I coloured the image with Promarkers: Lime Zest, Apple Cider, Pastel Yellow, Indigo Blue, Blue Pearl, Powder Blue, Henna, Salmon Pink, Peach
I then layered the image onto blue pearlised cardstock. I used X-cut scalloped circle nesting die on glitter paper, and then a Nellie Snellin circle die on the blue pearl card.
Finally I layered all these together on some Anita's gold card on a basic card blank.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Simon Says Stamp Monday - We're going round in circles
City Crafter #364 Out of this world (well superheros kinda are :D)
open-minded crafting #17 Mighty Men in May

So we went camping last weekend for the first time in our new tent. So I got some pictures of the tent lol.

And also a novel use of a bird house (ok maybe not so novel but last year there were actually birds in here):

They were loving the fact it has been left empty this year. Finally for the pictures here is an update on my Christmas Fairies: (32hrs)

And as promised (and hence the strange title of the blog post) I do have a book review for you today:

Blood Song by Anthony Ryan
At the age of 10, just after his mother’s death, Vaelin al Sorna is left at the gates of the Sixth Order by his father, the battle lord to the king. This is an order devoted to battle for the faith that the empire worships, but not under obligation to the king. This is a tough life for a boy and Vaelin has extra troubles during his training to become a full brother. He also struggles to understand why he has been sent here instead of following in his father’s footsteps as he had anticipated.
This is a gripping story of intrigue and action. It is written from a single perspective which means that you get to hear of things as the main character hears of them, which ensures the pace flows well and makes it a difficult book to put down.

Birdie Congratualtations Motorboard

Well a busy weekend as I worked today and Saturday and had friends come down to visit yesterday, which has been great fun. However, I did manage to make a holder for a graduation scroll to be stored in with the graduation memorabilia.

Here is a close-up to see the details on the holder:
I embossed an A4 sheet of red paper using a free embossing folder - size 6x6. I then wrapped this around a kitchen roll tube. This was folded under the bottom and sealed to make a base. The top was folded carefully down the insides. The labels were cut from my new first edition dies, with the plain one having peel-offs added to it. The bird die is from Tattered Lace and I cut it from a scrap if patterned paper. Finally a butterfly sticker was added.

I want to add this into the following challenges:
Die cuttin' divas #318 Graduation
MAWTT #46 Graduation
Addicted to CAS #112 Graduation (I hope this one counts!!)
Kort 'o' mania #176 Challenge yourself
Avenue 613 #197 Create a container
Animal Friends #50 Anything but a card

I was given a Amerylis for Christmas and it has bloomed nicely on my windowsill.

Now I just need to find out what to do once the flowers fade!! lol.

And here is my animal contribution for this blog post.
This is where all the noise was coming from...
Can you tell what it is yet??? It was extremely difficult to catch her as she came out of the gap, but eventually...
We managed to catch her heading in to feed the little chicks.

Nope I still haven't got the book review written up yet - I will aim to get it done for one of my DT posts this week I promise!!

Thanks for looking at my blog,

Surprise!!!!

Hi there on this lovely sunny morning, just before I head out to work! I was suppsed to be cutting the lawn, but it is a little too hot, and I won't be back until 9pm tonight, so I guess it will now have to wait until tomorrow. However, I did have a Woodpecker come into my garden to eat the suet coconut I have on the feeder. It seems to also enjoy throwing the bird seed holders onto the floor though grr. I will let it off because it is so pretty, and hopefully I will be able to capture a picture at some point so I can share it with the rest of you.

I will now continue now I am back from work and show you the card I made playing around with some digital images from The Paper Shelter. I used the Precoloured versions of Dragons Birthday, on the Little Easter Bunny background, and came out with this:

I added a couple of sentiments to the printed card to finish it off.

I would like to enter this card for the following challenges:
Modsquad - Birthday Bash
OLL #229 Food or Drink
Simply Create Too #127 Use a digi

And here is my latest finished stitching - a country diary dogrose that took just over 6 hours.
Once again that you for taking the time to visit my blog - sorry there are no animal pictures this time :)

Oo ee oo ah ah .... having fun indeed!

We are halfway through our third challenge over at quirky crafts - with our inspired by a song challenge. I have used Skully Poe from Delicious Doodles to create my reminder card.

I coloured the image with Promarkers and layered on card matching the books the head is sitting on. I layered onto a Papermania geometric base card and then added a contrsting sentiment sticker and some red diamantes. My inspiration for this card was 'Witch Doctor' by The Cartoons.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
 ATSM #242 Make your mark
crafty catz #371 More than 2 layers
deep ocean #155 Furry or feathered friends
AYLI - Favourite skin/fur colour combination (I have chosen this one as it is the one I can make look realistic. I still haven't managed to get the tones right for other skin colours yet)
open-minded crafting #17 Mighty men in may
notjustcards #44 One for the boys

I have also got a fish tank update for you @ almost 145 hours:
I have now finished book two of my trilogy, but I have not got book three yet, so I will aim to write the reviews for the first two books, ready for my next two blog posts :)

Golden wedding

Wow the weather has had a right old turn-around hasn't it? Dry and sunny, but still very muggy today. We are away camping for the weekend from tomorrow, so I have got to make sure all the animals are sorted and ready to be left for a little while (I really need to find a house sitter rather than just somebody to pop in and check their food and water).

Anyway, we are onto a new challenge over at Aud Sentiments today, and we have a nice easy one for you this time. The challenge theme is......Anything Goes, just remember to include that all important sentiment! We are sponsored by the lovely Ike's Art for this challenge and I used With This Ring for my creation.
I used a pre-printed monochrome card base and only coloured the ring on the image (using Gold metallic pen). I then layered the image onto Anita's gold card before adding to the card. The sentiment was created on the computer and layered onto the same gold card.
I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
dragonfly dreams - monochrome

Some more baby pictures :D

And also an update on my height chart now @ 29hrs for the second dino
