Jingle Bells Nativity

Hello everybody,

I have a Christmas card to share with you today :).

I decided to go for an easel base to make the most of this lovely die-cut. I got the cut in a bag of bits from a charity shop in Sheringham last year. I folded a plain white 6x6 square card to mke the easel base. I added a Papermania sentient tag to one side also.

For the bottom of the easel I added some reindeer paper that came free with a magazine last year. I then layered this lovely nativity die-cut to the bottom edge (this came in the same pack as the bells). To hold the easel top I used a fancy label die-cut and simply stuck the peel-off Xmas onto it.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

ABC Christmas - playing both W for Wishes and X for Xmas
Simply create too #144 More than one fold

I cut a sweet-pea bloom from my outdoor plants and placed it in a bottle of water. It has rooted!!

I have now transferred it into a plant pot and we ill see how it grows. I would have left it in the bottle, but the stem started to go a bit funny.

Oh and before I leave you, Chucky just has to say hi! We have been out all day - we went indoor bodyboarding, which was fun! - and so he has been feeling slightly left out and is now extra attention seeking lol.

Right time to pop him to bed - thanks for looking,

Christmas/Winter @ Aud Sentiments

Yup, it is that time of year when us crafters need to start thinking about getting prepared for Christmas. And if you don't celebrate Christmas then it is still the time to get inspiration from the frosty winter mornings, and lovely clear blue skys. So our theme for our new challenge at Aud Sentiments, is to use a Christmas or Winter sentiment. Our sponsor for this challenge is Paper Nest Dolls,

and I have used Vintage Carolers for my card:

To keep the vintage feel I coloured the image with Watercolour pencils and added some sparkle with Papermania glitter pens. I fussy cut the image and layered onto a floral, vintage patterned paper and a dark grey base card. Finally I added a foiled sentiment topper (could be hunkydory, but not certain), and a robin.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
ATSM #319 CAS
Cute Card Thursday #557 Festive Colours
Allsorts #494 CAS Christmas
CraftyHazelnuts #412 Something beginning with H (Hats)
MMM #84 Winter Foliage
AYLI - Rubber or Digis (Digi stamps are much more forgiving - I am certainly more likely to have a nice crisp outline)

I am so looking forward to getting all my decorations down out of the attic!!

Hello @ Creative Moments

Hello there, Did you know that it was world hello day???

To celebrate this the optional twist for the new Creative Moments challenge is to use a sentiment somewhere on your creation. I have used Hello Herbert West from Dr. Digi's one of our sponsors for this challenge.

I used a pale blue base card and a magenta doily. I coloured the image using watercolour pencils from WHSmiths before fussy cutting and adhering over the doily. I then added an MDF 'Hello' which I first painted with Cosmic Shimmer metallic guilding polish in Rich Red and Ocean Teal.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
ATSM #319 CAS
Fussy and fancy #225 Anything Goes
SUYP #36 Furrything Goes

Baptism on a Saturday?!

Yup, I have just been to a christening of my ne neice, and it is a Saturday! I never thought the church would allow it, but apparently they have made an exception due to the distance the godparent had to travel (it involved a plane). So it means I can now share the card I made with you all:

As this was for a little girl and I wanted a CAS design, I chose to use a pink base card. First I added a strip of yellow metallic guaze ribbon over the card front, and then white floral lace ribbon to the bottom of this for added texture. I then layered up the topper and added the name in peel-off letters. Finally I added a peel-off sentiment, which continues on the inside to say 'on the day your baby is baptised'.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
SUYP #36 Furrything Goes
Card Mania #110 Lace
Simply Less is Moore #384 Metallics (the guaze, the topper is edged with gold and the sentiment)
TIOT - Friends and family
AHSC #290

Layer it up @ I Love Promarkers

Hi guys,

It is time for a new challenge over at I Love Promarkers. This time the DT were given the theme of 3 layers (which is actually harder than it sounds!) How do you decide what constitutes three layers? Does this include the base card as a layer, or does the layering start from the first patterned paper? Do I go into too much depth and should I just get on and do the card? hahaha.

Anyway, I decided that three layers did not include the base card, and came up with this:
I have used My Sweet Rose from our lovely sponsor - StarStampz. They have a wide selection of large eyed beuties just like this one and the DT have come up with some beutiful inspiration. As usual if you are playing along with the challenge we do need to see promarkers, flexmarkers, aquamarkers or tria's on your project.

I coloured the image with promarkers before fussy cutting her out. Unfortunately I didn't record the colours I used. I die cut a heart from Papermania Capsule Collection patterned paper, in orange to match the bow, using X-cut scalloped nesting hearts and the over the edge technique to ensure the bottom corner was not cut. I used a base card with an embosed border and then rubbed a Papermania pink ink along the edge, which gives a bit of a distressed feel to the card. I then layered a floral paper into the central panel of the card, and the heart and image were layered onto this. Finally I added a sentiment tag which matched the patterned paper, and an orange bow.

Wreath all about it

Hi there,

For this post I have used a new wreath die (came with a magazine) to make both a Christmas card, and also a desk calender.

As you can see for the calender I have used the die as fireworks to highlight the 0 and 9, and for the Christmas card I have kept it as an actual wreath.

This pair was made for the current Twofer challenge #11 Wreath.

My calender was created using lilac sparkle card as a base. I then cut a triangle from white card to make a stand (fold one edge of the triangle and adhere to the reverse of the base so that the bottom edge slopes upwards rather than being flat to the ground - this allows the calender to sit back onto the desk).
I added a border strip down the left side and then layered the year panel over this. Initially I was going to stamp and heat emboss the numbers, but the numbers were a little large, so I decided to do it this way instead. Finally I added the sentiment and the calender tab.

This card is based around the sketch from MTTC (#383) -
My Time To Craft!
I would also like to enter the calender for the following challenges:
CCM #222 Lots of layers

The Christmas card is very CAS:
I used the outline die on poppy glitter cardstock, and then used the accent and centre die on saffron pearlescent paper. I layered these two together. To finish I simply added the peel-off sentiment (in smokey slate of course).

I would like to enter the Christmas card into the following challenges:
613 Avenue Create #215 Christmas/Winter
The Paper Players #218 Colour challenge

I also have a book review to share with you today - a long time in coming I know:

The Lost: Paula Maguire #1 by Claire McGowen
The first book in this series follows Paula, who is a forensic psychologist, back to her home town in Ireland. Two girls have gone missing on the border, but Paula’s return stirs up the past and the reasons why she left her hometown in the first place. These reasons may put the whole investigation at risk. All the evidence that they manage to gather also appears to link back to events and disappearances from the past, and Paula must figure out how everything is connected before more girls are lost.
I found this book very slow to start with, but as you get to know the character and the history you do want to know more and you get more engrossed. This is not as fast paced as a usual crime novel, but there are still twists and sub-plots and by the time I had finished the story I wanted to read the next one to find out more about Paula.

Northern Lights Owls

Hi guys,

The technique in focus on my facebook group for this month is Northern Lights, and can be found here. Unfortunately I only have a square blending pad, so it started off looking a little funny:

I started off with a pale yellow distressed ink in patches along the base of the card.

I then added some orange in between the yellow patches.

Next I layered a turquoise and a blue around the yellow and orange. Finally I added some purple around the edges where I wanted the darker colours. The next step was to add the black, which I used a bath sponge for, in order to smooth the transitions between the colours.

Finally I added a stamped sentiment to the lighter area. The topper is a Limited Runs image from the current progressive challenge which I coloured using Papermania watercolour pens. I took some leaf dies and added PVA to them, and then sprinkled large black glitter onto this.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Simon Says Monday - Make your own background
citycrafter #437 Woodland animals
ATSM #317 Make your mark
polkadoodles wk 45 Create a scene
inkspirational #173 Photo inspiration

AYLI - Rainbow or Monochrome - I do find it difficult to use ony a single colour, although it does look so stylish. However for the Northern Lights technique it is impossible to be monochrome.
Animal Friends #68 Winter
I also have an update on my rabbit cross stitch for you all:

Ribbons and bows @ Aud Sentiments

Yup it is time for a new challenge at Aud Sentiments, and this time we are challenging you to include a ribbon or a bow. However, this can be part of your image, so doesn't have to be an actual ribbon/bow! We are sponsored by Digi Doodle Studios for this challenge and I have used Blowing Bubbles:
I coloured her with promarkers, stuck her on some glitter card, which I punched some ladybirds at the top. I then threaded ribbon through these holes and added the year onto the ribbon. I added ribbon to the bottom of the image before attaching the calender tab.

So I used both real ribbon and a fake bow on my design :)

I would like toe nter this card into the following challenges:
Addicted to stamps #168 Use ribbon
CCM #221 Explosion of colour
SOS #379 It's raining cats and dogs
ATSM #317 Make your mark

I am a bit behind with my photos, so I am not sure if I already shared this update with you all?

Yup it is the second Dino finished out of four on my height chart! I am hoping to do some on Dino #3 tonight!

All white

...or maybe not quite, but not far off. I have used some silver and coloured the skin and hair using promarkers.

As you may have guessed our twist over at Creative Moments is to use as much white as possible on the creation. Of course you can always play along as Anything Goes :) The image I have used for this one is from Besties, who are one of our four sponsors this time. It is called  Besties The Gift and as mentioned I coloured parts of her using promarker pens. The gift itself I coloured with pearl white glitter glue and 3D pearls in cream from Trimcraft. I also added a bow and pearls before layering onto an embossed 'Me to You' card blank. Finally I added a silver glitter sentiment and a felt snowflake.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
613 avenue create #215 Christmas/Winter
Winter Wonderland - Colour It
polkadoodles wk44 - white
craftyhazelnuts #410 use some glitter

Icy Birthday Cake

Hi there,

I would like to share a new cross-stitched card with you all today. I made it for a friend who lives all the way over in New Zealand!

The stitching took between 6 and 7 hours and I missed the beads off due to the postage requirement. As the image was icy blues and silvers I decided to use a pale blue base card. I then die-cut some silver glitter card, using X-cut nesting scalloped circle dies and M&C stitched square nesting dies. I then added a white glitter sentiment and two swirl peel-offs.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
613 Avenue Create #215 Christmas/Winter

I thought you may like to see my spider:

I also thought you might like to see some Halloween photos :)

Shake those tail feathers

Hi there,

I have made a couple of one layer creations using the same stamp and basic idea. The first of these is a desk calender:

I created the base by folding red card in half. I then stamped the bird to the top and added red glitter to the glued up tummy to make him sparkle. To finish I drew some tail feathers using red gitter glue, and then added the calender tab to the bottom.

The second is a fun any occasion card:
I did have fun with these. This one obviously has much larger tail feathers to shake. I stamped the bird with versamark ink and then sprinkled with the glitter before once again freehand drawing the tail swirls. Finally I stamped the sentiment using Pretty Colour ink.

Both stamps were from different free stamp sets - the sentiment being from a peacock themed free gift.

I would like to enter these creations into the following challenges:
ATSM #316 Anything Goes
CCEE1844 Turkey
Addicted to CAS #148 One Layer Card

I woud also like to share some wildlife from last month with you :)

ok quite a few spiders lol, but the caterpillars were all the same :D
