Thanks in a bag

Happy New Year everybody - well it will be in a few hours! I have been crafting with some of my new stash today. I didn't get much crafting stash on Christmas day this year, but I got a few bits through my advent calender from hubby, and one of the bits I did get on Christmas Day itself was a gift box pad from The Works.

So I used the pad to make the bad - added some ribbon from DoCrafts Botanical range and then die cut a fancy oval using a Spellbinders die, and the sentiment was from a tonic studios labels set of dies, but I used the inverse of the die to get just the letters. Here is a close up:

I would like to enter this gift bag into the following challenges:
SOS #334 Gah - Pink
Die Cuttin' Divas #349 Thanks
MAWTT #61 Anything but a card

I also have a book review to share with you all:
Confessions of a Murder Suspect by James Patterson and Maxine Paetro
The parents of the famous Angel children are found dead in their bed. The first their daughter knows of it is when the police are knocking at the door. The story is written from the perspective of said daughter, Tandoori, who is the ‘brainy’ one of the family. The Angel children are often referred to as sociopaths, and Tandy decides to take matters into her own hands to find out who murdered her parents, even though she believes it could well have been herself. The truth could break the family apart, or it could pull them closer together, but the truth needs to be exposed so that justice can be served, especially as Tandy knows this is what her parents would have expected.
This is a very interesting story and is very well written. However, there are a lot of pathways that are opened up, but not fully explored, leaving questions unanswered that seem to be quite important to the narrator. However, the truth is not too difficult to guess at, but is uncovered in a very unusual way. It is a good read, but like I said just leaves a few too many questions unanswered. After googling Tandy Angel it does appear that there is a series based around her, and so this may explain these questions, and I may need to see if I can get hold of some of these books.

I also have some more of my Christmas decorations to share with everybody!

I do love this tree - it has a swirl effect through the middle too!

Thanks for looking,

Winter 60th

Hi guys and a happy Yule to all,

It was the father-in-laws 60th recently, so I needed to make a masculine card with a bit of glitz (who doesn't want glitz for a big birthday???). Luckily I received some wonderful winter animal toppers in an ATC exchange which were perfect for this card:

I used my new number dies from Intricut for the age, cut out of X-cut self-adhesive glitter paper. Then I simply added the toppers and some diamantes for extra pizzazz! Luckily I think he liked it!

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Addicted to CAS #126 Sparkle
Polkadoodles - Celebration
Allsorts #446 Cold and Frosty
simply less is moore #359 Birds/Feathers

And here are some of my Christmas decorations for you to enjoy:

Have a great Christmas all!!

Steamy Christmas

Hello everybody,

It was my birthday yesterday and I got spoilt to a lovely meal at a very expensive restaurant - but boy did I feel fat afterwards lol. Need to do more exercise today - does going out and fighting through the crowds to do some shopping count??

I had to quickly make a final Christmas card for one of hubbies friends who is into his model steam trains - and this is what I came up with:

I used a grey Papermania card blank and layered some My Minds Eye chalkboard patterned bunting paper into the middle of this. I used an Anita's topper depicting santa with a steam train. To finish I used a strip of washi tape, holly die-cut in silver and a silver sentiment added on top of the washi tape.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Quick Cards - Brilliant Bunting
dragonfly dreams - non traditional Christmas (although the image is traditional I feel the colour scheme is definitely not)

Alphabet Challenge - T for Trees (there is a tree in the background!)
 Fussy and Fancy #202 Christmas
MTTC #361 Christmas
Casology #279 Gray
CRAFT #446 Christmas
Crafty Catz #397 Santa Claus is coming to town

I now have some photo's from the recent family get-together for the father-in-laws 60th Birthday, and also the only get together we would have over Christmas.

First up is the table and Poinsettia!

Next is the brother-in-law and his fiancee.

Now there is me and hubby:

Unfortunately those were the only pictures I got from the weekend as we were far too busy playing silly games lol.

Thanks for looking, and have a lovely Christmas if I do not see you before then :X

So if you are interested why are you waiting? We are a lovely bunch of people I promise :)

Here is my creation for the challenge using Skinny Bird Christmas Ornament and sentiment from 3 square tree.

I used a botanicals base card, which seems strange, but I thought the pattern looked kinda like Christmas lights. I coloured the image with chalks and metallic pencils from Papermania and Stabilo in traditional Christmas colours. I rounded the corners before matting onto deep green pearlescent cardstock. I changed the colour of the sentiment before printing out and then matted onto the same cardstock, but rounded the corners of the cardstock this time to give a contrast. I overlapped the two slightly and then added a bauble and some metallic pearls to finish.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Country View #58 Christmas - with Reds, Greens and Rust (metallic pencil)
notjustcards - Anything Goes
craftycalender - It's Christmas

For my card I have used Winter Kidz with Cat from the sponsor:
I made the card into an easel card. I started off with a pale blue 5x5 card blank. I cut the outer 2cm on each side of the card front away and then rounded the corners of the back, before folding the front in the middle to make the easel shape. I layered some lovely Poinsettia patterned paper onto a paler blue card and rounded the corners of each layer before adding to the base. I used a strip from the patterned paper, from cutting the paper to size, to create the easel stand by sticking it to the base with foam pads. I also added some blue diamantes. The image was coloured with Promarkers and the top corners rounded before lining it up with the top of the card. Finally I added some diamantes and a snowflake to the bottom of the front panel.

Promarkers used - Satin; Pastel Beige; Peach; Spice; Cinnamon; Pastel Blue; Island Lagoon; Fresh Meadow; Apple Cider; Lime Zest and Metallic Red Gold.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

just-hanna #288 Let it Snow
Animal Friends #57 Anything Goes

Kitty Stocking

Hi there,

I have the last of my Christmas ATC's to share with you today...next it is time to get started on the Calendars! This time I have focused the ATC's around a limited runs image, from the current progressive challenge.

As you can see the two cards are very different although the layout is the same.

So for this first one I went for traditional colours and a glitter cardstock, coloured with Promarkers and a papermania sentiment tag added.

For the second one I chose the same layout, but opted for a musical themed backing paper for the card. I used icy colours for the stockings and the kitty's, and the added a White Spakle sentiment tage to finish.

I would like to enter these cards into the following challenges:
Limited Runs progressive #10
PFP #424 Add a sentiment
ATSM #271 Anything Goes
polkadoodle - Sparkle
craftyhazelnut #362 Quick and Easy
CAGI - Christmas
CCM #201 Animal Magic
AYLI - Favourite Animal - again I have chosen the kitty cat as I am very much a kitty person
MAWTT #60 Twas the challnge before Christmas (creatures and stockings)
Animal Friends #57 Anything Goes
SUYP #25 Meowy Christmas

I would also like to share my nails with you!

And my recent ATC's that I have received this last week!

Picking funghi

Hi there,

Here is a CAS card I made recently:

I wanted to use just a single stamp set and I chose a Woodland Friends stamp set with Bert Badger. However, the card base is a small 3x3" and Bert would have been a little large, so I looked at the element stamps that were in the set, and came up with this. OK so you wouldn't usually go out picking funghi for bouquets, but it is the time of year for gathering the mushrooms...

I coloured the image with watercolour pencils and left it CAS after stamping the sentiment with some pawprints.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
A Snowflakes Promise #46 Anything Goes
C4C414 - Colouring
Glitter 'n' Sparkle #268 Anything Goes

I also have a fairy update for you - taken at around 48hrs:
And I have also changed my hair!! For the first time in my life I decided to bleach some of it. Unfortunately the hairdresser did not do it very straight, nor did she cut it the way I wanted - kept going shorter when I wanted a bit of length - especially on the fringe. However, as it grows out I will be able to adapt it, so I am fine with it. It will be going turquiose tomorrow evening.

Well that is all for now - I am going to go finish putting up decorations,

Krafty Christmas

Hi there,

I have another Christmas ATC collection to share with you today. This was based on some photo inspiration and I have called the collection: Shabby Christmas. The first two cards with the kitties on did not work very well, but I still think they look quite rustic, so I decided to still use them.

I stamped the images straight onto patterned KRAFT card, which was cut down to ATC size. I used some free stamp sets and then heat embossed using Papermania embossing powder. I only recently bought this embossing powder and have used it so much!

I would like to enter this collection into the following challenges:
SUYP #24 Furrything Goes
Card Mania #99 Christmas
Addicted to stamps #158 Monochrome (white and black are the extremes of the brown :D)
AYLI - Favourite Animal (As anybody that knows me will tell you I am a true animal lover. However, one of my favourite animals has to be the kitty cat, and I miss my two so much!)
MAWTT #59 Christmas animals
modsquad - Wreath Focal point
ATSM #270 Photo inspiration
craftyhazelnuts #362 Quick and Easy

I also have some pictures of my little birdies to share with you all:

Sentimental Christmas

WOW it is December tomorrow - my Christmas stuff is down out of the attic. The first lot of the advent presents have been wrapped and hung out and my trees are on the relevant floors (albeit still in their boxes). AND I have the works Christmas do tomorrow - no idea what I am going to wear!!!

However, right at this moment I need to tell you all about our new challenge over at Aud Sentiments. This will be our last challenge of the year and the theme is Christmas.

This is a great opportunity to finish your last minute Christmas cards. And if you are just getting started, don't forget you can enter the challenge up to 5 times as long as each project is different.
You can make any type of project you want for this challenge such as a card, tag, scrapbook layout, altered item, pocket letter, box, etc.  Just make sure you follow the theme and include a sentiment.

We are sponsored by Bugaboo Stamps

I have used a sentiment image from Bugaboo, but I was unable to find it in the shop to pop the link in here (I may just be being blonde, so please do have a look yourselves!)
I coloured the image using Promarkers in traditional colours and mounted to a gold card blank. I then used some washi tape that I purchase from Aldi just the other day, down the right hand side of the card to add further glimmer to the card. As the image is the sentiment itself I did not add a further sentiment - although I will add a 'Merry Christmas' or similar to the inside once I find one that I like enough lol.

I would like to add this card into the following challenges:
C4C413 - Christmas or Winter
Sweet Stampin' - Favourite Christmas Colour - who doesn't love traditional!
MMM #60 Happy Christmas
jingle belles - Baby it's Gold outside
Winter Wonderland - Traditional Christmas colours
Christmas @ Sweet stampin' - Anything Christmas Goes

I also have some photos of Simba to share with you. I would love to say cute pictures but I do not think he fits into that category lol.

Lazy maybe hehehe. But I do also have a photo of a more active viv friend lol - Simba thinks he is his pet.

Thank you for looking,

Hugz Tinz
