Love is all around

 Good morning,

We have a new challenge starting today at I Love Promarkers, with the optional theme of love and romance.

I have used Love from our sponsor - ching-chou kuik to make a calendar easel card

I coloured her using my promarkers and then fussy cut. I used a patterned paper from a Forever Friends paper pad which has glitter hearts to add panels to the card base. Over the bottom one I use the calendar tab to create the stand for the easel. I also added two fabric hearts as when the calendar is being used there will still need to be a holder for the top part of the card. I then cut a heart out of the same paper using X-cut scalloped nesting hearts, and layered this onto the top portion of the card. To finish I added my girl.

 Hi guys,

I have made some beaded hair clips.

I wrapped the large beads with size 11 seed beads in various shades of purple, using circular peyote stitch. I then simply hot glued the beads to the hair pin to make the clips.

Snowman Decoration

 Hi guys,

I have made a Christmas card to share with you, using an Ikes Art Digi to create a tree ornament.

This was NOT made for the I Love Promarkers challenge, although the watermark does say that. Unfortunately Sue, who owned Ikes Art, passed away earlier this year and so we could not use these digi's as prizes for this challenge. However, her designs were always amazing and such a great variety too.

I coloured the image with promarkers. I took a patterned base card and cut the scalloped circle aperture with X-cut nesting dies. I then cut the snowman with the smaller circle, and sut a second circle from the first circle off-cut to back the snowman. Finally I made a hole through the circles to add ribbon so that I could mount him to the card. To finish the card I added a peel-off sentiment and silver glitter card behind the aperture.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
PFP 668 Traditional Christmas Colours - red, silver and green (his top is green it just looks blue in this photo!)
craftycatz #615 Christmas
craftyhazelnuts #621 use some glitter
SOS #484 Shine bright like a diamond
TIOT - Traditional Christmas
ABCChristmas - X for Xtra special
dragonflydreams - Christmas

Easel cake

I finally finished cross stitching some cupcakes last week, and I made one of them into a birthday card.

I made this into a desk calendar that was suitable for a male, even though I used dark pink papers. I used the pink to bring out the colour of the cherry, but decided on gingham to stop it looking too feminine. I added the glitter ribbon stripes on both sections to follow the sketch shown below. The calendar tab is the stand for the easel design.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
TheMaleRoom #168 Pop-up Element (Easel card)
613AvenueCreate #11 Fancy folds and cuts
AHSC #499

Christmas fun

We had a new challenge start yesterday at I Love Promarkers, with the optional theme of Christmas.

I have used Santa skidoo from our sponsor Dr Digi'sHouse Of Stamps.

I coloured the image with promarkers and then fussy cut. Onto a blank white base card I layered some green snowflake patterned paper and then added the image to this. I added a foiled sentiment to finish.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
AYLI - fav Christmas image - I love the amusing images for Christmas cards as hey can be used for almost anybody.
SimonSaysMonday - Christmas
polkadoodles wk44 Christmas for the guys

Black cats everywhere (and maybe a witch or two too)

Our challenge over at Creative Moments is still running until the 10th of this month. With an optional twist of black cats or bats, what are you waiting for??

Both of these images are from our sponsor Mirtillamente who is offering a fab prize to the winner.

The witch I coloured with some fineliner pens I had in my stash. She was very fun to colour, but I didn't make her into a card - just kept her as a picture.

The kitty card was a large background image, and so I just added some sentiment bubble stickers to some of the kitty areas. I layered the image onto silver glitter card before adhering to the card base. To finish I added flat-backed self-adhesive pears to the scallops.

I would like to enter the witch into the following challenges:
MMM #186 spooky or halloween colours
ATSM #441 Make your Mark
dragonflydreams - Halloween/Autumn
CRAFT #656 Halloween

I would like to enter the cat creation into the following challenges:

daringcardmakers - creature comforts

allsorts #700 Let's Celebrate (cat is a birthday card)

TIOT - sparkle and shine

Butterfly delight

 Hi all,

Here are the other two cards I made with the stamp set.

For this first card I initially stamped the image onto the yellow base card and the heat embossed with a sparkly blue embossing powder. I then stamped the sentiment onto a matching blue ribbon and heat embossed with black embossing powder. I added a large papermania flower to the top and stamped the mini butterflies to either side to finish.

This one used the layering parts of the stamp set - coloured with watercolour pencils and then pieced together (hence the wings being ever so slightly too low down the body). I then simply stamped the sentiment in Whispers brown ink into the top corner.

I would like to enter these cards into the following challenges:
DaringCardmakers - Creature Comforts
SOS #482 use eyes (eyes on the wings)
ATSM #441 Make your mark
MTTC #493 Wings
HappyLittleStampers - Watercolour

Bright on Dark - Firework season

 Hi guys,

It was my turn to pick the challenge theme over at MAWTT this month, and I thought as we will soon be having lots of fireworks for bonfire night, then bright on dark was a good theme for the month.

I used a stencil and neon green cosmic shimmer polish paste for the leaves background, leaving a space for the butterfly stamp at the bottom of the page.

The butterfly was part of a free layering stamp set, but this stamp was the complete butterfly, which I initially stamped with black pretty colour ink due to the size of the stamp, however when I went to heat emboss this the powder just blew off the card. Therefore I restamped the image off to one side, to create a shadow effect, this time using the tiny versamark ink pad. I then heat embossed with Papermania Seafoam White.

I then stamped the 'peacock butterfly' label onto each side, doing one in black and the other heat embossing with the same powder.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
ATSM #441 Make your mark (inked background)
inkspirational #277 Fireworks (inspired by colour)
MTTC #493 Wings
SimplyLessisMoore #476 Use a stencil
DaringCardmakers - Creature comforts

Please see the next post for another couple of cards using this stamp set (I wanted to make 3 different cards).

I also have a book review for you:

Kismet by Amina Akhtar

Ronnie is an American Muslim who was born and raised in New York. When her parents died she was left with her aunt, who wants to keep the traditional ways of doing things as this means she doesn’t have to raise a finger herself. Ronnie could not see a way out of this until she met Marley. Marley is a wellness and spirituality fanatic who convinces Ronnie that she knows how to enable her to have a better life. Ronnie chooses to sell her house and move to Sedona with Marley. Sedona is a large tourist attraction for those who are interested in the Earths natural energies, and crystals etc.

Slowly Ronnie and Marley’s relationship starts to deteriorate, as Ronnie realises she doesn’t like the same things Marley does, and Marley finds a new friend who can get her the attention she desires. Also, shortly after they arrive in Sedona bodies start turning up, of people that are not very much liked within the community. Furthermore, Ronnie is having strange dreams, which she believes are the cause of the ravens that she is feeding in the area.

Can Ronnie make the relationship work? Who is killing people and why is Ronnie dreaming about the murders before they happen? Who can be trusted in Sedona? These are questions that you are asked throughout the book and the story is very well written. There are certainly some unexpected twists at the end of the book. It is a little over-the-top in a lot of places, but a good light-hearted thriller none-the-less.
