Jingle Bells for Mum

Wow everything is growing really well now - I just need to find space to plant it all (oh and remember to water stuff too lol).

However in the meantime I have made a Christmas card using a House Mouse CD-Rom.

and the inside:

I wanted a CAS front, so I just chose the base image from the decoupage selection, and added the word mum to the side (this was in a matching yellow on the computer, but for some reason printed black!). However, it lacked that Christmas sparkle, so I added the washi-tape to the edges, keeping a CAS design, but having a little extra too lol.

A little bit humourous over at Creative Moments

Hi guys,

We have a fun twist for you this time over at Creative Moments. We want to see some humour in your creations - a witty sentiment, or a funny image, or maybe even a technique that gives you a giggle when you see it. However, we are an anything goes challenge blog, so even if you can't think of anything to provide the giggles we would still like to see what you have been creating :)

I have used an image called Twinkle Toes from Polkadoodles. I do have another card, but I have not quite managed to get it finished as yet!

I used one of my heavily patterned base cards for this as I thought it worked well. I die-cut the frame using a spellbinders die and coloured the image with Promarkers before die-cutting with an X-cut oval nesting die.
Finally I hand-wrote the sentiment, which is a quote, and I thought it went quite well with the image :)

Relaxing in the garden, with I Love Promarkers

Hi guys,

It is time for a new challenge for all you Promarker lovers! There is no twist this time, so it is a straight up Anything Goes challenge.

 

We are sponsored by  Digital Delights and I have used Relax Barnaby for my card:

I used a pearlescent blue base card and then die-cut a fancy oval frame and some 3D flowers using Spellbinders dies and self-adhesive vellum for a delicate effect. I also used the central die that went with the fancy frame to cut the flower centres with their embossed flowers. The sentiment was from Limited Runs.
I coloured the image with the following Prmarkers: Fuchsia Pink/Tropical Orchid/Pink Lobster/Bright Orange - Buttercup/Summer Sun/Mustard/Slate/Antique Pink - Denim Blue/Cyan. I then cut the image using X-cut fancy labels nesting dies.

Birdy Fun

Hi guys,

I made this one on Thursday for the Limited Runs Progressive challenge, but I have only just had time to write my blog post as I was visiting family this weekend.

I coloured this little guy in various Blue promarker pens. I then die-cut a lovely fancy frame (Spellbinders), and die-cut the image with a size-matched oval die (X-cut nesting dies) before layering onto the card. I wanted to keep this CAS so I layered the hand-written sentiment onto the same blue card and then added the cupcakes. I was going to enter this into a Tea-party themed challenge, but that one closed yesterday lol.

So I will enter this card into the following challenges:

Cute Monsters @ Aud Sentiments

Hello and welcome to our new challenge at Aud Sentiments. The challenge theme is CUTE so it is a nice easy - just plese remember that we do need to see a sentiment on your creation. We are sponsored by the lovely Drawn by Krista

and I have used Monster Love 1.

I cut each monster out individually to make separate ATCs and used blue glitter card and purple matt mirror card to add layers, which I added faux stitching to. I then added the sentiments, which turned the mirror card from matt into shine, and some pearls.

We got a new guinea pig for our current guinea pig at the weekend (as discussed in a previous post) and here is a picture of Piggy (the older pig):

Wedding stitches

Wow I have been loving this gorgeous weather over the bank holiday weekend! We got ourselves a new guinea pig, and a new hutch so that the two can live together nicely...and they HATE each other! :( Lots of work to get these two to be friendly I think. We also put my veg trug up and so I have planted out my Blueberry bushes and Heather. Now I just need to buy a couple of Gooseberry bushes and plant some carrots!

However, on to the important stuff, I have two stitched creations to share with you today, both from the wedding of my brother-in-law two weekends ago! The weather was not as nice as it was this weekend, but it was dry, which is the main thing. I made two samplers - one for a frame and one as a scented hanging.

 So this is the hanger, which I stuffed with lavender. It is based on a traditional sampler, using the wedding colour scheme of grey and pink.

Again I used the colour scheme, but this one I wanted to be more sophisticated as hopefully many people will see it. I used a floral sampler from WOCS (I believe) and used grey variegated thread for the leaves, instead of the greens. I stitched it onto marbelled pik aida and used gold light effects thread for the hearts, to resemble the wedding rings.

Apple Tree Yard by Louise Doughty

Yvonne is a very successful, middle-aged lady whose knowledge about genetics is widely sought after. When she starts an unexpected affair, she has no idea where this will lead her…or how much it will change her life. She knows very little about the man she is having an affair with and chooses to ignore a lot in order to keep this completely separate from her personal life.

The story starts in the courtroom and tells the story bit by bit from Yvonne’s perspective, both past and present, to explain what happened and also give some insight into the people that have been involved, and what might have caused things to lead to the courtroom. The story keeps you guessing, but it is difficult to think that somebody so intelligent could be quite so naïve. I did enjoy reading the story, and I would really like to watch the film that goes with it.

Floating Mum for Creative Moments

Ok so we have a new challenge for you over at Creative Moments. As always the main theme is anything goes, however our twist is A Card for Mum. Our lovely sponsors this time are:

I have used Bugaboo -  Mom heart for my slightly unusual and interactive design.

I fussy cut the heart after changing the colour from black to green. I then stamped the sentiment all over the reverse and heat embossed with Heat It Up! clear embossing powder. Finally I used a sponge to paint the metallic green paint over the heart, leaving the embossed sentiment clear.
Next I added two small holes to the top and bottom of the heart.
I took a grey pearlescent basecard and die-cut, using X-cut scalloped hearts nesting dies, a heart centrally into which I could mount the fussy cut heart (do keep your eyes peeled for me using the die-cut heart at a later date).
To finish I used Dovecraft 3D pearls in metallic green to add some accents and a sentiment to the top, whilst keeping the focus on the central heart.
