OLC Get Well Flower

Hi there,

I got down to my second allotment yesterday and finally managed to get the potatoes up. I actually had more than I expected, what with the exceptionally wet weather!



Anyway,onto what you all actually want to see - the card:
I took a pink card base, and die-cut a flower from the front. I then drew a stem, some leaves and grass using promarker pens, as well as filling in the card back where the flower allows it to be seen. The sentiment was hand-written with promarker also.

Nice and simple!

    It's great to see you join us at Less is More, however as the flower has been added to the card, it's really the focus of the design and therefore another layer and not just an embellishment.
    If you are unsure of our challenge requirements, do take a look at the guidelines on our blog and we hope you'll join us again soon!

      The flower has not been added - it has been removed from the card. The card is one layer of cardstock, nothing added except ink - as I have explained in my description :)

    What a very pretty card. I can see why Chrissie thought your bloom was added, photos can be so deceptive, I can "see" it either way lol! Very springlike.

    Wow! Way to supplement stamps and dies with your own art work. Oh I see what you mean about the flower - you used the negative space - very clever way to add interest to a one-layer card! So glad you joined us at OLS!

    I love the happy pink card base! I also really like how you decorated the inside to show through the die cut negative - a lovely touch. :D

      Just Leeks at the moment, but I have got sweet pea seeds planted and will hopefully be planting beans and peas in the next couple of weeks :)

    Using negative space is a great way to create interest on a one layer card! Your color palette of pink, green, yellow, and white is so pretty too :)

    Creativity is alive & well on this card! :) Love how you used the negative space to add your own details to the flower! The pink color of the card base is a soothing color for a get well card too!

    Oh my goodness how resourceful are you and what a creative idea to use the negative space for your flower design. Amazing colour palette! Super impressed that you are growing potatoes, I do not have a green thumb.

    I've never tried to grow potatoes, but I have had good luck with many other things in my garden. Are they difficult to grow? You had a pretty good haul!

    I love your card...that die cut flower is so cool! What a cool effect, and your hand-drawn flower stems and sentiment are so pretty!

      Potatoes are actually really easy to grow - just dump them in a bag and half fill with compost, and then keep adding compost as you see shoots until the bag is full :) Only thing to remember is to keep them watered!

    I love your card. The flower is super pretty!! Is that your handwriting on the front? If so, fantastic. My hand writing is a hot mess. I love that you grow your own potato. When I was younger my Grandmother organized a block garden, we are from Jamaica, West Indies, so farming come natural to us, and we use to grow all sorts of stuff. I loved it and wish I had the space and the patience to do it now with my kids. Thanks for sharing!!

    Seeing those spuds take me back to my childhood in Africa, where my parents were able to grow lovely potatoes like yours in rich red soil. Nowadays, I live close to the beach in australia and we have sand for soil... Not great for spuds!! Anyway, love your negative cut flower! Fantastic effect, and so pretty on that soft peach cardstock! I am sure that whoever you send this card to will feel suitably loved!
