Decorating the tree @ Aud Sentiments

As I pointed out yesterday we are in the final week of November, and there is less than 4 weeks until Christmas Day itself! So it shouldn't be any surprise that our new theme over at Aud Sentiments is Christmas or Winter. We are sponsored by Polkadoodles who have provided me with Decorations Up to use on my card.

I used the following Promarkers to colour my image - Maroon, Cardinal Red, Cerise, Green, Grass, Pastel Beige, Daffodil Bloom, Buttercup, Pasel Pink, Pale Pink, Orchid, Twilight Sky, April Shower, Lavender, Almond as well as Purple, Silver and Blue metallics.

I then used my stitched square nesting dies to cut the image (M&C). I used some Christmas tree card to make a card base and added my image to the left side. I used a free gift snowflake die with metallic X-cut self-adhesive card, and then added a sentiment topper.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
TIOT - Inspired by a song/Christmas Carol - Have yourself a Merry little Christmas 'Hang a shining star upon the highest bough'
ABCChristmas - X for Faux (stitching)
dragonflydreams - Christmas/Winter

Christmas!!

Yup, it is nearly the end o November so time to get crafting those Christmas cards and goodies. Our new optional challenge at I Love Promarkers is to create something with a Christmas theme. You can always play anything goes if you prefer. Just remember you must use those all important markers. This challenge is sponsored by Dr Digi'sHouse Of Stamps, my card uses their Lonely this Christmas image.

I coloured the image using the following promarker pens - Cool Grey 3, Ice Grey 4, Tulip Yellow, Gold, Honeycomb, Oatmeal, Sandstone, Raw Sienna, Cocoa, Dusky Rose, Pine.

I then fussy cut the image. I folded some double sided patterned paper that I found in my stash to create a little frame and placed this onto a KRAFT base card. Finally I added the sentiment topper from Hunkydory.

I would like to enter this into the following challenges:
AHSC # 344
Craftyhazelnut #465 Something beginning with R (red flowers and reindeer)
TIOT - inspired by a song/Christmas carol (Frosty the snowman)
TheMaleRoom #125 Inspired by ugly sweaters (The patterned paper)
AYLI - Fav way to add snow - as part of the image. I can't get along with the fluffy stuff - it just goes everywhere, whereas having it as part of the image is nice and clean (and quick)

Winter Floliage doubletrouble

Hi there guys,

I have a couple of cards to share that I made for the current Twofer challenge - Winter foliage.

For the first card I wanted to use an Antia's sentiment topper, so I used this as the foal point of my card. I then created the border with two stamps from the winter Wonderland stamp collection that came free with an issue of Creative Stamping. I used green Pretty Colour ink and Mossy Stone Whispers ink. I also stamped a sentiment from the same set inside the card, using archival ink in Real Black.

For this second card I only used stamps from the set, and the same ink colours listed above. I stamped the bunny to start, and then the sentiment. Then I created the wreath around the outside of the bunny. This is appropriate for us as we have a bunny who loves to see us when we get home - and especially at Christmas when she can play with the paper.

I would like to enter these cards into the following challenges also:
ATSM #368 Holiday
CuteCardThursday #609 Winter
craftyhazelnuts #465 Something beginning with R (reindeer in my first card and rabbit in my second)
intaas #71 UK myths and legends (Flying reindeer for Santa's sleigh)
JingleBelles - Banner inspiration (top card)
MTTC #410 Christmas Animals
ABCChristmas - W for wreath (bottom card)
AnimalFriends #80 Reindeer/Moose (top card)

Button it up

Hey blogging world,

A new challenge has started over at Creative Moments today, and the optional theme is to use buttons and bows. I have made a postcard to support my teamies :)

I was trying for a Charlie Chaplin theme for the Sunday Postcard Challenge - and this was the nearest I could get. It also looks slightly taller than the 4" it should be, but I did measure it! lol

The topper is from the Papermania Roaring 20's set, and I simply added it to Anita's gold card as the base, then added a pearlescent black button with a silver bow. Nice and simple.

I would also like to enter this into the following challenges:
Addicted to CAS #172 Birthday
TheMaleRoom #124 Hobbies (my friend like to play his cello and guitar in his spare time)

I have also just finished reading The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss.

This is a story narrated by the main character to a storyteller. It tells of how Kvothe sees his entire life turned around when his family gets slaughtered. The story starts by explaining about his life before, and a bit of background about the people he met that helped him to make the decisions that he did in his future, mainly a pretty young woman, who reappears regularly throughout the book, and an Arcanist who sparks his curiosity and opens his eyes to new ways of doing things and new possibilities. After his family is murdered he becomes lost, and the story leads you through harrowing times living hand-to-mouth as a street urchin, and what it took to make him look to his future again. A large part of the book details his years at the university, learning the techniques of an Arcanist whilst trying to discover more about his parents murderers. He makes some powerful enemies, but also some great, if not very powerful, friends. I cannot wait to start on book two of this trilogy.

A couple of pictures of my moths to leave you with :)

They are having a cuddle :)

Steampunk

Hiya fellow bloggers,

It is time for a new challenge at MAWTT, and this time it is Team B who are providing inspiration for you. Please do go and have a look at the DT creations. The theme, chosen by Jackie, is Steampunk. I have to admit I don't find this theme very easy myself, but I have managed to play along.

I used some free Sheena Douglas stamps (Creative Stamping magazine). Firstly I stamped the cogs along the top and bottom and heat embossed with gold embossing powder. I then stamped the clock face from the same stamp set, but just in pale gold ink, so it is very subtle. Then to finish I simply added a draughts topper from Kanban.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
TheMaleRoom #124 Hobbies
613 Avenue Create #227 Scrap your stash
Addictedtostamps #179 Anything Goes
CountryView - Hand Stamped
notjustcards - Anything Goes

Thanks for taking the time to look at my creations,

Stitched up Christmas

Hi guys,

We have a new challenge starting for you over at I Love Promarkers and the optional theme that the DT have played is Use some stitching, real or faux. Our sponsor is The Paper Shelter  and they provided What A Mess!! for the DT to use.

I used the following Promarkers to colour the image: Lime Twist, Mint Green, Fresh Meadow, Frosted Leaf, Eggnog, Mustard, Island Lagoon, Black, Walnut, Umber, Canary, Crimson.

I layered the image on the provided background and then die-cut using M&C stitched square nesting dies. I layered this onto Kraft card base. I die-cut two leaves from flocked paper and drew stitching around them, as well as doodling the edge. I drew a stitched sentiment and then added a bauble string using four stitches to hold it in place on the card (real and faux stitching used you see ;) ).

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
ABC Christmas - X for fauX
Animal Friends #80 Reindeer/Moose
Digi Doodle #22 Christmas/Winter
AYLI - cute or traditional - I absolutely love using cute characters on my Christmas cards
craftycatz #482 Christmas

We cannot wait to see what you create this time,

Through the snow...to the baubles

Hi guys,

I have another Christmas card to share with you today (I might be making too many and not enough birthday cards at this rate!)

I saw some masks from Crafter's Companion, but I do not have any - so I decided to make my own. The obvious way to this would be to stamp the paper - then die-cut the image and remove yes?? Well guess what idiot here did...yup, cut out the die first, then used it as a mask to stamp the rest of the paper!! Doh. I used a background stamp that was free with a magazine with red, green, gold and silver inks to create the layers of snowflakes. I then stuck the pieces down onto the cream card base. Finally I stamped the sentiment in gold to the bottom of the bauble, added some bronze glitter ribbon and a bow down the side...and because I couldn't find my thin double sided tape I added silver glitter to the exposed tape between the two glitter ribbons :). I really, really need some more hours in the day to finish sorting my craft room. I have too many Christmas gifts to make to be able to commit at the moment, and so my stuff is spread out across the floor currently haha.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Daring Cardmakers #126 Baubles and bows

Bowed Group

I have been continuing with making my scrapbook/album and this is my next page to share with you.

I started with Papermania Forever Friends paper, which I thought was suitable for a wedding. As the wedding colour scheme was green and red I decided to use red pearlescent card to mount the photo onto. I also added some little circles to add a bit of interest. I again used the red card to stamp the sentiment onto. Finally after layering all this together I add quite a large bow (possibly slightly too large).

I would like to enter this into the following challenges:
notjustcards - anything Goes

Rudolph...

...well it could be!!

I used a patterned base card I was recently gifted. I am unsure why the card is upside down though - there are a few different patterns and all are upside down. I used a free stamp set I got last year I think, possibly a couple of years ago - stamping the snowflakes randomly on the background. Unfortunately the pretty colour ink I was using had gotten a little sticky and so it didn't work overly well. I then stamped the reindeer, using Versamark ink instead, and heat embossed with Papermania hi-puff embossing powder. Finally I stamped the sentiment on the bottom of the card in silver ink.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
craftyhazelnuts 462 Beginning with H (heat embossed)
CuteCardThursday #606 Christmas is coming
JingleBelles - Rudolph and friends

A little bit of love

Hi guys,

I am currently in Switzerland until tomorrow, so I am afraid this will be a brief post, but I wanted to share my newest scrapbook page with you all.

I used some Forever friends papers for the backing paper and the patterned strip across the centre. I used the image of us from the registry office (which isn't actually whited out that is the flash from the camera!). I left a small border around the photo to act as an extra layer. I finished with a paper bow in a similar shade of blue to Gavin's tie.

I would like to enter this into the following challenges:
AYLI - Fav papers - I love Papermania papers because they are always good quality, however I especially love the glittered papers as they add that little something extra, without the fuss.
613AvenueCreate #227 Scrap your stash (bow and pattrned papers)
