Missing you and Flying High

Hi there everybody,

I have two cards to share with you today. OK so haven't actually done much of the housework, but there is always tomorrow for that yes?? lol. So here is the first of my cards:
I based this card around the sketch 115 from Sweet Sketch Wednesday

I did rotate the sketch slightly but all the elements are still there. I used various embossing techniques for the background and die-cut the owl from X-cut self adhesive glitter paper. The embossing folders used were one that came as a free gift with a magazine, which I used to emboss the tin foil (to resemble the moonlight in the forest), and a Sheena Douglas folder which I rubbed ink onto before embossing to make the background paper. I then added a penant and some papermania blitters flowers to finish the sketch.

I would also like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Diecuttin' Divas #322 Camping Critters (owls in the forest)
fussy and fancy #190 Punches/Dies
kort 'o' mania #178 Use different things (trying stamping with an embossing folder)
613 Avenue Create #198 Stamping with an embossing folder
open-minded crafting #18 Just about time (dandelion clock)
FB Monthly Themes for Crafting - Use Tinfoil

My second card to share with you all is this one made for a work colleague who will be leaving us next week:

I used a pre-printed base card, a topper that was free with a magazine, a sentiment I created on the computer and a Bloomer from the papermania Capsules range with a blue adhesive gem in the centre. I also finished with two bright pink butterfly gems.

This card is for the following challenges:
TIOT - Letters or Numbers
MAWTT #48 English Country Garden (full of flowers)
Citycrafter #367 Hashtag City Crafter
SOS #308 Think Pink
allsorts - flower power

 CRAFT #421 Animals

I also have some more stuff I am growing to show you :)
 Lobelia
 Curly Kale
 Geranium
And yup there is still an Acer in there!
 Violas
Spirea

Thanks for taking the time to look at my blog (I would have an update for you on my stitching but I am not sure which one is next lol).

Simply Christmas Time

Hi there,

I also have a none DT creation to share with you today!

For this card I used a papermanie pre-printer card base, with musical notes on it. I stamped some baubales from the Papermania Mistletoe Kisses stamp set, onto white card and then three different patterned papers from my Christmas stash - two red and one green. The red paper for the long bauble was papermania but not sure what the other was, which had glittery white spots on it too. I paper pieced the baubles together and then added a green sentiment to finish the card.

Inspired by the challege at Merry Monday, of this photo inspiration:

I was inspired by the red baubles and green foliage on a neutral background.
I would also like to enter the following challenges:
CRAFT #420 Christmas
Jingle Belles - All bundled up (layers for paper piecing)
Winter Wonderland - Add Snowflakes (on the smaller bauble)
inkychicks #84 Use three patterned papers
ABC Christmas - M for more than one

I also met some more friends at Think parrots 2017:

Even more quirky Things with Wings

Hi there, sorry this is slightly late - I was all set for a Sunday blog post!! But here they are finally. Firstly I have another Bugaboo creation, which was made for a friends 40th, and does only just fit into the challenge (but I used the other card for my challenge on Wednesday!). Here it is:
I layered two of my images together, along with a sentiment (all from Bugaboo - bugdf; bugjwine and bugjwinesent) and then printed them out onto a layer of cardstock. I coloured the images with promarkers, using a metallic gold for the foil top. I then stamped the 40 using this months free stamps with Creative Stamping magazine and Red pretty colour ink.
I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Simply Less is Moore - personalise it (40)
As you like it - Favourite fruit. - one of my favourite fruits are grapes, especially the black seedless ones. These in turn ake red wine - hence my creation for this theme.
Addicted to CAS #113 Cheers
Crafting by Design - Anything Goes

My second reminder card uses an image from Limited Runs, called Birds on a Wire:
I used this one to make an ATC, using stripey green card for the base, and layering with green flowers and some leaves. I used the 'Friends Flock Together' sentiment from the stamp set. Again the image was coloured with Promarkers.
This ATC I would like to enter for the following challenges:
Simply Create Too #128 Summer Fun
My Time to Craft #348 Summertime
Crafting by Designs - Things with Wings
SUYP #19 Furrything Goes

I would also like to share a fish tank update with you - now at just over 143hrs:

And also some pictures from The World of Wings at Think Parrots last weekend. This guy is just amazing and we go to see him and his Patagonians whenever we can!

Sporting Greetings

ell it is now Thursday, nearly at the end of the week, and also time for a new challenge over at Aud Sentiments. Our challenge theme this time is BINGO and here is our BINGO board:

We are sponsored by Dr Digi's House of Stamps for this challenge, just pop over to the blog to see what the prize is for this challenge. Please do remember to add a sentiment to your creation (this could be hidden within the card, but we do need to see it).

I have used Dunderton Academicals FC for my easel card: (BINGO - Ribbon/Digi/Die-cut and 3d item/digi/Markers)

I folded the front panel of a pastel 6x6 base to create an easel base. The image was coloured with Promarkers and then I used X-cut large ovals nesting dies for the image and the green backing paper, which I added to the easel part of the card. To one side of this I added a helmet from my stash. A blue ribbon was added just under the fold, and a bow added to the side of the image. For the bottom of the card I used a papermania sentiment and two football embellishments and 3D foam pads.

I would like to enter my card for the following challenges:
 Card Mania #93 Buttons/Bows
Cute as a button #35 For the boys
CCM #190 For a special man/boy
PFP #399 Add a sentiment
craftycalender - boys will be boys

I also have a dino update for you all - now at 30.5 hours (or just over 120hrs for the whole thing):

And some of my bits that I am growing indoors:
Firstly my indoor tomatoes and chillies - they were all overwintered, but the tomatoes are just too big, and as I have not got an allotment as yet I think they are highly unlikely to produce any fruit - but the chillies are just starting to flower.
My money plant, who is insisting on producing lots of little money plants to share the pot with!
The oranges off my little citrus tree - the lighter is so you can see the size of them! (Not actually sure if they are edible).
My lemongrass growing well in the guest bathroom.

Thank you for stopping by, and hope to see you joining in with our challenges,

An extra large birthday wish

Now onto my second post for today, announcing our new challenge over at Creative Moments. As always we are an Anything Goes challenge blog, but this time we have the optional twist of adding a flag to your card. We are sponsored by the lovely Bugaboo and Torytale for this challenge.

I have used Spring Clyde for my creation and added the flag as part of the sentiment:
I coloured Clyde in using watercolour pencils, which I chose to add water to in some places to blend the colours, but left just as pencil in other areas. I added a starbust background before printing, and then die-cut using a scalloped circle from the X-cut nesting dies. I then layered him onto some bright patterned paper. The numbers were bought from Hobbycraft (this is an A4 card, so the card is actually quite heavy with the numbers on). To make the flag I stamped the sentiment from the new Creative Stamping magazine in green ink, then folded this round a cocktail stick. I then used silver glitter glue to paint the stick and attach to the card base.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Simon Says Stamp monday - Touchy Feely (glittered numbers are very rough)
Crafting by Designs - Things with Wings
ATSM #246 Anything Goes
Hanna and Friends #275 Summer (summer colours and image)
Simply Create Too #128 Summer Fun
Dradonfly Dreams - Add Sparkle
Animal Friends #51 Animal with wings

I would also like to share an update on my Christmas Fairies too @ 33hr 17:

Here also is Simba, who wanted some new photographs taking:

The Big Monochrome

Hi there,

Welcome to another Wednesday, these months are going by so quickly at the moment! We have another new challenge for you over at I Love Promarkers, and our theme this time is Monochromatic. Please do let us know what range of Letraset pens you have used for the creation. Our fab sponsor this time is The Paper Shelter . I have used The Bride for my creation:

I used a geometric papermania card base as this was the correct colours for the card. I layered two bands of lace across the bottom of the card front. The bride was coloured with Promarkers and layered onto Anita's gold card. I added this at a quirky angle so that the flowers would fit on nicely. The bloomers are from the Linen colour collection from papermania. I added a fussy cut tag to the bottom and some gems to the centre of the bloomers, to match the brides hair colour.

Promarkers used - Lavender, Winter Berry, Cool Grey 1, Satin, Dusky Pink, March Hare and Oatmeal.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
The Card Concept #75 Bold and Graphic (Clean and layered)

Inspired by the creams and beiges with geometric patterns and a slight pop of brighter colour
CAGI - Weddings

I would also like to share an update of my fish tank @ 146hr 34:

I also have a couple more goose pictures from the nearby lakes.

And I actually have another Audio Book review for you also!

The Big Four by Agatha Christie
A Poirot mystery that is a little different from the usual. Poirot is facing a powerful group and is determined to figure out who they are and how to stop them from getting away with murder and exploitation. He has his old friend back from South America for a time and so they work together to get to the bottom of the mystery. As they are not figuring out a single event this story is a little more open than usual and also does not give the readers insight into things that would be unknown. This is helped by the first person viewpoint that is adopted.
However, all I could think of whilst listen to the story was that it seemed a lot like a Sherlock comedy. The great detective has a very dumb sidekick, who doesn’t think he is dumb, and lives in a flat where the landlady shows people up to his room and looks after him. After looking into this it does not seem that it was ever supposed to have been based upon Sherlock, but that is certainly how it comes across. I would only read or listen to this book if you are looking for a light-hearted crime story with a lot of comedy in it.

Gardening Granddad

It has been a mixed bag with the weather this week - sunny one moment then torrential rain and heavy wind the next! I am just hoping that it is a little nicer for this weekend as I am going to the Think Parrots show down in London!

I have a card to share with you which I have made for hubbies Granddad for Father's Day:
I used a heavily patterned card blank to give the impression of  a full garden in summer. I then added a strawberry panel to this using the Papermania Country Life patterned paper, and rounding the edges, after first adding a blue flower ribbon pennant to one side. I then added a strawberry panel from the same paper range and added some gardening stickers from out of my stash. I also had these carrot stickers left over from when I bought my ovo cage for the mice. Finally I added a tag to bring a mmore masculine element to the card and wrote Granddad on it in gold pen.

I would like to enter this card for the following challenges:
AHS #215

Cute Card Thursday #481 Boys/Men
CCM #190 For a special man
Crafty Calender - Boys will be Boys

I alos have some random pictures from up by where we have a little dyke. I was looking for dragonflies and damselflies, but I did find these:

I would also like to share an update on my fishtank - 146hr34

Quirky Things with Wings

Hello again everybody,

The sunshine has suddenly come out - I have been off work and having to go out and about and it has rained all day. This means my garden stuff has not been done that I wanted to do today although I have spent more time with my little birds (they are having issues at the moment and so I am trying to figure out what the problem is :(, but one of them is fine now and the others seem more settled). I have however managed to plant up my Cali Wonder pepper plants - 8 potted on and another two still a little small whoop.

I also have something coming into the garden in the early hours and removing my feeders from the feeding station, throwing them on the floor and running off with the fat balls. As yet I haven't been able to establish what is doing this. I looked out this morning and the fat ball feeder was on the floor, went to do my ablutions, looked out the window again and in that time period the seed feeder had been thrown on the floor!

Anyway onto the crafty quirky winged creatures lol. We have a new challenge over at Quirky Crafts, and this will be our last challenge for a couple of months due to some unforseen circumstances and not enough DT members - so if you are interested in joining our little group do drop an email. You will be required to host the occasional challenge though. So our June challenge is Things With Wings.

We have two lovely sponsors for this challenge. The first is  Limited Runs. They have a progressive challenge running at the moment and I have used the Steampunk Bug for this challenge on my quirky card.
I coloured him with Promarkers and used X-cut nesting oval dies to cut the shapes. The holographic paper was in my stash, and the sentiment was just typed on the computer and means 'Don't let the B***ards grind you down', which I thought was great for this guy!

This particular card I would like to enter into the following challenges:
Cute as a button #35 One for the boys
 ATSM #244 CAS
Cute Card Thursday #480 Bugs and Butterflies

Our second sponsor is Bugaboo Stamps and I used last weeks Friday Freebie - Spring Bird - again coloured with Promarkers and then layered over several scraps of patterned paper - both printed from a Digital Delights Boofle CD-Rom:
This card I would like to enter into the following challenges:
TIOT - Feathered Friends
Alphabet Challenge - F for Feathered Friends
Crafty Catz #373 Summer Time

And I believe that both of these cards are suitable for:
Addicted to stamps #149 Animals
Catch the bug - Anything Goes
Animal Friends #51 Animals with wings

I would also like to share an update on my Dino height chart - now at a total of 119.5 hours (just under 30hrs for the second dino)

And some actual quirky things with wings lol:

Thank you for popping along to read my blog,
